Female tennis fans could soon find themselves eating candy from Maria Sharapova’s new Sugarpova line while lounging around in Caroline Wozniacki’s new line of underwear to be launched in September.
The fashionable Danish former No. 1 has said though: “You will not see me naked (in adverts for the line).”
With Sharapova leading the way in worldwide sports marketing for women, Wozniacki looks keen to get in on that act, with her new line described as revealing “some of her most private moments away from the tennis court.”
The Caroline Wozniacki Underwear collection (“This is Me”) was designed with Caroline’s personal input and is due to debut worldwide in September. The pieces will be made in collaboration with the Danish underwear brand JBS and includes both a cotton/lycra and a microfiber line.
“A feminine lifestyle/leisure underwear collection for the girl that wants the good looks from fashion, a perfect fit for her body, and a quality that’s hard to beat. JBS was the perfect partner to accomplish that,” said Wozniacki.
The deal – unusual for a tennis player – was negotiated by agent and resident of her management company, the French Lagardère Unlimited’s, John Tobias and Drew LeMesurier, a marketing director.
“We are extremely excited about the collaboration between Caroline and JBS. When Caroline attaches her name to something she does so with great consideration. This is a partnership that will hopefully live well beyond Caroline’s tennis career,” said Tobias
The microfiber line consists of low hipsters, G-string, bra and top in solid colors. The cotton line consists of hipsters, low hipsters, bra and top in both solid colors and different patterns. Adidas, Yonex, Proactiv and Sony also sponsor Wozniacki, who earns around $8-10 million per year.
