After losing Roger Federer from their roster of top-flight sporting stars, IMG is intensifying efforts to finally lure Andy Murray from XIX Entertainment.
During his career Murray has been represented by Octagon, Patricio Apey’s Ace Group and is now with the Simon Fuller –run XIX Entertainment, an arm of CAA Sports. Prior to signing for his two most recent management companies, both Murray and his mother Judy were courted by representatives of IMG with no success.
The only major deal struck by XIX for the 25 year-old was a long term endorsement with adidas but IMG officials have again been openly stating the company would have tied him to bigger and better contracts.
Gavin Forbes and several other experienced IMG operatives will arrive in Paris today but one the company’s tennis managers was quoted in the London Times : “We cannot believe Andy will go through his playing career without wanting to work with us once.”
IMG has a long-time relationship with the All England Club, selling the Wimbledon television rights. This year for the first time IMG will also produce Live@Wimbledon, the Championships’ expanded live radio and video broadcast service. Wimbledon emphasized that IMG was awarded this contract after a “competitive and transparent tender process”.
