Roland Garros

Singles – Fourth Round: (15) Dominika Cibulkova def. (1) Victoria Azarenka 6-2 7-6(7-4)

Dominika Cibulkova has gone deep at Roland Garros before — and she has a new coach who is helping her improve her game. Victoria Azarenka, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be doing anything to improve her clay game. That means that Cibulkova is up to #11, and could hit the Ten with a semifinal. Victoria Azarenka is still #1 in safe points, but Maria Sharapova could pass her with a final.

Singles – Fourth Round: (6) Samantha Stosur def. Sloane Stephens 7-5 6-4

That does it: Serena Williams will lose the #5 spot. Samantha Stosur should return to the Top Five.

Singles – Fourth Round: (10) Angelique Kerber def. Petra Martic 6-3 7-5

One more win and Angelique Kerber could rise as high as #7.

Singles – Fourth Round: (21) Sara Errani def. (26) Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-0 7-5

After her brilliant result the round before, Svetlana Kuznetsova came out utterly flat here. And she made the quarterfinal last year. She will be falling out of the Top Thirty. Sara Errani is up to #16; she will be Italy’s #1 if she wins her next match.

Doubles – Third Round: (2) Peschke/Srebotnik def. Voracova/Zakopalova 6-0 6-2

We aren’t doing much to resolve the matter of who will be the doubles #3 and #4. We show the Top Ten as follows:

1..(1) HUBER …………. 9590

1..(1) RAYMOND ……….. 9590

3..(3) PESCHKE ……….. 7305*

4..(4) SREBOTNIK ……… 7305*

5..(8) ERRANI ………….6440*

6..(9) VINCI …………. 6440*

7..(5) SHVEDOVA ………..6155*

8..(6) KING ……………6115*

9..(7) VESNINA ……….. 5450*

10.(12) KIRILENKO ……… 5290*

Doubles – Third Round: (3) King/Shvedova def. Peng/Zheng 6-4 6-2

Doubles – Third Round: (14) Gajdosova/Rodionova def. Kanepi/Zhang 6-4 7-5

Mixed Doubles – Second Round: (1) Huber/Mirnyi def. Rosolska/Peya 6-1 7-6(7-3)

Mixed Doubles – Second Round: (2) Peschke/M Bryan def. Mattek/Sands/Tecau 5-3, retired

Mixed Doubles – Second Round: (7) Mirza/Bhupathi def. Razzano/Devilder 7-6(7-4) 6-3

Mixed Doubles – Second Round: Jans-Ignacik/S Gonzalez def. Groenefeld/Matkowski 6-4 6-4

Mixed Doubles – Second Round: Voskoboeva/Bracciali def. Dulko/Schwank 6-4 7-5
