Novak Djokovic will keep his winning Wimbledon formula by returning to The Boodles tournament at Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire ahead of this year’s Championships.
The World No.1 played at The Boodles last year and just over two weeks later he lifted his first Wimbledon trophy. Now Djokovic has chosen to return to the traditional Wimbledon warm-up event to prepare for the defence of his Wimbledon title.
“I enjoy playing at Stoke Park and look forward to preparing the defence of my Wimbledon title at The Boodles,” said Djokovic.
Djokovic’s Davis Cup team-mate and World No.8 Janko Tisparevic, former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro, John Isner, Marin Cilic, Gael Monfils, Stanislas Wawrinka, Aleksander Dolgopolov and Gilles Simon are the other top players confirmed to play at The Boodles 2012.
In addition to Djokovic, other major names are expected to come to The Boodles for one-off exhibition matches as they put the finishing touches to their Wimbledon preparations. Last year Andy Murray and the Bryan Brothers were among those who played matches at The Boodles.
“We’re thrilled that Novak is coming back to The Boodles for the seventh consecutive year and we hope the formula works for him like it did last year,” said Patricio Apey, The Boodles Tournament Director. “Players love the relaxed atmosphere at The Boodles and our courts are Wimbledon standard so they know it’s great preparation for the Championships.”
