Hello Everyone!
I’m glad 10sballs.com contacted me to ask if I would blog some more after my (apparently stellar) writing performance at the Easter Bowl. I always enjoy writing about a topic that never gets old…myself!
Anyways, after my quarterfinal debacle at the Easter Bowl, I returned home to Bloomington, IN. No wallowing in my sorrows though, I got right back on the court with a determined mindset to keep improving. I knew I didn’t have a tournament coming up for a few weeks, and it was a good time to improve myself both on and off the court. I hit the gym hard, lifting with my longtime trainer, Tom Morris, 3 to 4 days a week. As it is, I am a little “gravitationally challenged”, so the more weight and muscle behind my ball, the better. Right now, I’m clocking in at 143 (lbs, not mph’s on my serve) and would like to shoot for that 150 mark sometime soon.
When I returned from California, item number one on my parent’s list was me getting caught up with school. I go to a public high school, something not seen very often from players who travel as much as I do. I feel very fortunate though for the opportunity to live a more normal life. I am involved in National Honors Society and Junior Advisory Board at my school. Being able to hang out with friends on weekends and being around them during the school day is something that I would never trade. Although I do see the view of people who do online or homeschool, I feel like I have become a more well rounded individual with a greater perspective of things because of my high school experiences.
The last week or so has also been devoted to nailing down the details of my summer schedule. Let me tell you, its pretty packed. Two or three Futures mixed in with our once a year sectional, a couple of team events, plus two Super Nationals capped off by Kalamazoo. No rest for the weary!! I am currently down in Florida and am about to start the qualifier of a future here in Orange Park tomorrow. It is my first ever professional endeavor, so we’ll see how these next few days go.
Hope you enjoyed!
Ronnie
