Isner joins stellar 2012 The Boodles field  |

Big hitting American John Isner is the latest top ten player to join the all-star field for The Boodles 2012, held at Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire from 19 – 23 June.

Isner, currently ranked 10 in the ATP World Tour rankings, joins Juan Martin Del Potro, Richard Gasquet, Stanislas Wawrinka, Gael Monfils and Alexander Dolgopolov in the eight-man field, with two players yet to be announced for the pre-Wimbledon grasscourt event.

In addition, several other big names are likely to play one-off exhibition matches through the week as they finalise preparations for Wimbledon. Last year both Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray played on The Boodles centre court.

John Isner fast facts:

– 6ft9 Isner is one of the tallest men on the Tour

– Made tennis history at Wimbledon 2010 when he and Nicolas Mahut played the longest professional tennis match ever – it lasted 11 hours, five minutes, serving 113 aces, before Isner won it 70-68 in fifth set

– Davis Cup hero for USA, exploits included a win over Roger Federer on clay in Switzerland to help his team to the 2012 semi-finals

– On Tour this year, Isner has already been runner-up in Houston and the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and hit a career-high ranking of 9 in April 2012

– Owns three career ATP World Tour titles and has been finalist at a further seven events.

– Andy Murray calls Isner’s serve “probably the best serve ever” . In 2010 the American became the first player since 1991 to hit more than 1,000 aces in a season
