World No.2, wins biggest WTA title of career
With just 10 unforced errors the entire match, Agnieszka Radwanska beat Maria Sharapova in the final of the Sony Ericsson Open on Saturday afternoon, breaking in the last game of each set to win, 75 64 – she turned the tables on their head-to-head with the victory, having lost her last six meetings against the Russian. She didn’t lose a set all week, defeating the likes of Venus Williams and Marion Bartoli too.
Victoria Azarenka’s perfect start to the year was stopped by Bartoli in the quarterfinals – Bartoli now has three wins over No.1s, having beaten Justine Henin and Jelena Jankovic too.
Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova won their third and biggest title together in the doubles, beating Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci for it.
