Doubles – Semifinal: (5) Kirilenko/Petrova def. King/Niculescu 6-3 6-4
We talked earlier about Vania King’s faint hopes for #1. They just got fainter. But Maria Kirilenko looks bound for the Top Ten.
Doubles – Semifinal: (6) Errani/Vinci def. (WC) Dulko/Suarez 7-5 6-3
Dulko/Suarez so dominated the first four or so games of this match that we were already starting to calculate where Paola Suarez would end up. Then it all fell apart. That means no return to the Top Ten for Gisela Dulko, and it means Dulko/Suarez won’t be seeded at many clay events this spring. Which, given their surface preferences, may not be the best news for the seeded teams. At least they should have no trouble getting direct entry into the Olympics.
