Hi Guys. Austin checking in after another day at Indian Wells. Today was quite the day. It started out with an early practice with a friend of mine. Although it’s great to be playing with some of these big time players, it felt good to have a solid training session on my own terms. Nico and I worked on our ground strokes with a couple of timing drills to get a better feel of the ball. After my practice I was called to warm up Gil Simon again for his upcoming match that day. This time fortunately I was very awake which was helpful as I was asked to move him all around the court. I had a solid lunch and did a light work out in the gym before my upcoming hit with Roddick, which was a completely different experience. I was playing well and the rallies were great, but instead of me moving him around I felt as though he was trying to test my fitness and give me a good lesson in the geometry of the tennis court. I don’t recall ever having to run to that many corners of a tennis court in a warm up before. I can now say I have officially returned Andy Roddicks serve. As a matter of fact I was on a roll returning a solid number of his serves up the T, that he felt it necessary to hit a slice out wide saying “Just had to make sure.” He got me good giving the crowd that came to watch a good laugh. Went to dinner and finished off the night watching an entertaining doubles match between Nadal/Lopez and Malisse/Dogopolov.
