Player Eligibility | All players must be in good standing with their National Association and the ITF. They must also make themselves available to their National Association for selection to represent their country in Davis Cup / Fed Cup in 2 of the following years – 2009, 2010, 2011 or 2012 – provided that one of those years is either 2011 or 2012. In 2009, 2010, 2011 or 2012, a player who makes themself available for selection for one Tie in Davis Cup / Fed Cup will be deemed to have fulfilled the requirement for that year. |
Number of Competitors | 172 (maximum)
Maximum of 6 men per country, of which a maximum of 4 men may compete in the singles event, and a maximum of 2 doubles teams may compete in the doubles event. Maximum of 6 women per country, of which a maximum of 4 women may compete in the singles event, and a maximum of 2 doubles teams may compete in the doubles event. From those competitors already on site and entered into singles or doubles, a maximum of 2 mixed doubles teams from any country may compete in the mixed doubles event. |
Selection Date | Recognised World Rankings of 11 June 2012 will be used to select players eligible for Direct Acceptance in singles and doubles. |
Selection Procedures | Men’s and Women’s Singles events: 56 players will qualify as Direct Acceptances based on the recognised Singles World Rankings of 11 June 2012. 6 ITF Places will be allocated by the ITF based on the recognised Singles World Rankings and the regional/NOC representation. 2 Invitation Places will be allocated by the Tripartite Commission.
Men’s and Women’s Doubles events: 24 teams will qualify as Direct Acceptances based on their combined recognised World Rankings of 11 June 2012 (with each player using the best of their Singles and Doubles World Ranking). Doubles players ranked in the Top 10 will be eligible for Direct Acceptance providing their partner has a recognised World Ranking, they are entered by their respective NOC/NA and their nomination does not bring the number of athletes for that NOC to more than 6 men/women. 8 ITF Places will be allocated by the ITF based on the recognised World Rankings and the regional/NOC representation, and ensuring the maximum quota is not exceeded. Mixed Doubles event: from the mixed doubles sign-in entries received from National Associations on site, 12 pairs will qualify as Direct Acceptances based on their combined recognised World Rankings of 11 June 2012 (with each player using the best of their Singles and Doubles World Ranking). 4 ITF Places will be allocated by the ITF based on the recognised World Rankings and the regional/NOC representation. |
