Monterrey

Doubles – Semifinal Timea Babos def. (2) Sara Errani 6-4 6-7(3-7) 6-4

This took almost two and a half hours, but it still represents fast progress for Timea Babos. It was only last week that she reached her first WTA semifinal. And now, here she is in her first final! That means she will rise to around #75 — obviously a career high. Sara Errani, who should have been the favorite here, again finds herself stalled; it appears she will stay #36.

Doubles – Semifinal Alexandra Cadantu def. (6) Greta Arn 6-2 4-6 7-5

And so we have two first-time finalists, both of them bound for career highs. Alexandra Cadantu is up to around #80.

Doubles – Semifinal (1) Errani/Vinci def. (WC) Dulko/Suarez 6-3 6-3

On the whole, we’d call this mildly promising for Dulko/Suarez. After all, it is only their second event back, and they lost to a pretty good team.

Doubles – Semifinal (2) Date-Krumm/Zhang def. (3) Bratchikova/Jurak 6-2 2-6 10-7 (Match TB)

It was the end of an era at Crandon Park for the Miami Open last year. From the Lipton, to the Nasdaq 100, to the Sony Ericsson, to the Sony, to the Miami Open presented by Itau, Key Biscayne saw it all.
