Singles – Quarterfinal: (4) Marina Erakovic def. Michaella Krajicek 6-4 6-7(2-7) 6-4
We came amazingly close to losing our last remaining seed — this took almost two and a half hours. But Marina Erakovic managed to survive, and will hit the Top Fifty as a result.
Singles – Quarterfinal: Vera Dushevina def. Stephanie Foretz Gacon 3-6 6-3 6-1
With so many seeds going out early, we can expect a lot of players here to make substantial moves. Vera Dushevina is defending points, but this still ought to take her above #85.
Singles – Quarterfinal: Alberta Brianti def. Varvara Lepchenko 7-5 6-3
We were surprised to see Alberta Brianti still below #60 after this. But she is getting close.
Singles – Quarterfinal: Sofia Arvidsson def. Lesia Tsurenko 6-2 7-6(11-9)
Memphis Magic continues for Sofia Arvidsson. She is at a bad spot in the rankings, but this should at least take her above #70.
Doubles – Quarterfinal: (1) Hlavackova/Hradecka def. Lee-Waters/Moulton-Levy 6-2 6-3
Doubles – Quarterfinal: (4) Krajicek/Tatishvili def. Erakovic/Pervak 6-3, retired (Pervak: viral illness)
Now we know why Ksenia Pervak crashed in singles.
Doubles – Semifinal: (2) Dushevina/Govortsova def. (3) Dekmeijere/Petrova 2-6 4-1, retired (Petrova: left thigh injury)
This might explain why Nadia Petrova had so much trouble in singles, too.
