Singles – Semifinal: (1) R Federer def. N Davydenko 4-6 6-3 6-4
This will probably make Nikolay Davydenko feel a little better about his game, but it’s not going to do much for Roger Federer. He was out there for two and a quarter hours, and it was the late match. He will probably be unusually vulnerable in the final. Still, he makes his grip on the #3 ranking a little stronger — helpful, given that he’ll be losing some significant points next week.
Singles – Semifinal: (3) J del Potro def. (2) T Berdych 6-3 6-1
This was almost shockingly easy — Juan Martin del Potro won 62% of the points! By itself it doesn’t make much rankings difference; Berdych remains #7 and del Potro #10. But if del Potro can win the final, he’ll climb to #8.
Doubles – Semifinal: (2) Llodra/Zimonjic def. Bogomolov/Norman 7-5 6-4
Llodra/Zimonjic needed many months last year to really click, but then took off. They started this year slowly, too. Maybe they’ve finally reached the launch pad.
