Nadal the Feal—Nathan’s Notice

wonder how long it will take until we see Djokovic doing a photo shoot for Sports Illustrated posed alongside a supermodel? I’m sure many of you Rafael Nadal and Bar Refaeli fans have seen the photos where the two pose, Nadal in swimming shorts, Refaeli in a bikini, Nadal still in swimming shorts, Refaeli in only a bikini bottom. The ultra-sensual photos made one quick question pop into my mind—I wonder what Rafa’s girlfriend Maria Perello thinks of them?

There are about ten photos in all and you can see them on sportsillustrated.com. In some of the photos the two are lying down, or holding each other in a tight embrace…Ooh. Now, wait there’s more. After posing the two for the photo shoot, the photographer Walter Loss Jr. said it was, “almost a romance.” Refaeli said she was excited to work with Rafael Nadal in the photo shoot, and that he could be a fantastic model. Just take a look at those seductive faces he makes. She further said, “I was a little nervous, because normally when I work for Sports Illustrated it’s just me.” [Read More]

Weekend Update – Shubert’s Blog

The practices and workouts have been tough the past few days.. When I’m not playing tennis or re-fueling, I’ve been keeping an eye on a few of the ATP 250 and ATP 500 tournaments going on in San Jose and Rotterdam. Qualifying for the Memphis 500 tour event also started and Robby Ginepri made it through the first round against veteran Michael Russell. Go Ginepri! But first I’ll let you know why I was happy Jarko Nieminen did well in Rotterdam this past week.

During my practices, I learned that Jarko used to do “monster-walks” or “lunges” during his practices. So while he’s picking up balls or between points, he’s getting his legs used to the constant strain and stretch that comes with staying low on the court. I started employing this as well and boy do I notice a difference already. On top of constantly “burning”, I get a better workout and feel more focused each point. [Read More]

Federer Booms—Nathan’s Notice

Federer boomed in his semifinals match against Nikolay Davydenko, on Saturday. The match lasted a total of two hours and sixteen minutes with Federer winning, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.

The first set was the most difficult for Federer with Davydenko breaking into a 5-4 lead before clinching it. The second set proved equally challenging at first with Davydenko rocketing off to a 3-1 lead, that is until Federer had enough. Federer then spun off five back-to-back games taking the second set.

Davydenko continued his streak of taking sets from the start into the third. Roger Federer had many chances to stop that from happening and take hold in the beginning but with Davydenko saving four break points Federer just couldn’t do it. This is the second time Federer has defeated Davydenko this season putting Federer’s head-to-head against Davydenko at 17-2. [READ MORE].

Federer/Davydenko like Safarova/Bartoli?!

How is the Federer/Davydenko match like Safarova/Bartoli? Well, I’ve been watching a little tennis the last couple of days on TennisTV from Doha, Rotterdam and Sao Paulo. I even caught a little bit of Raonic/Harrison in San Jose today on LSHunter.com. Most of it was rather blase.

Of course, there were a lot of great shots. But nothing like watching the last few matches of the Australian or even last weekend’s USA Davis Cup upset of Federer and the Swiss. So I got to thinking, what is it that makes some of these matches so riveting. [READ MORE].
