Singles – Quarterfinal: Timea Babos def. (Q) Yaroslava Shvedova 6-4 6-4

With all our quarterfinalists being unseeded, this week will produce a lot of firsts. Timea Babos not only reaches her first WTA semifinal, she is also one win away from a spot in the Top Hundred. She will be very close even if she doesn’t win her semifinal.

Singles – Quarterfinal: Alexandra Panova def. Karin Knapp 6-4 6-4

Alexandra Panova should hit the Top Hundred for the first time.

Singles – Quarterfinal: Edina Gallovits-Hall def. Mariana Duque-Marino 7-6(7-3) 3-6 6-2

This was the veteran match — both these two have done well here. Edina Gallovits-Hall is another who finds herself right around #100.

Singles – Quarterfinal: Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino def. Paula Ormaechea (Q) 6-3 6-0

First WTA semifinal for Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino; she will rise to around #140.

Doubles – Semifinal: (1) Birnerova/Panova def. Babos/Savinykh 6-4 5-6 12-10 (Match TB)

A big, big event for Alexandra Panova: Singles semifinal, doubles final!

Doubles – Semifinal: Minella/Voegele def. Gallovits-Hall/Knapp 6-3 5-7 10-6 (Match TB)

It will be interesting to see what Edina Gallovits-Hall has left after this. The good news is, this took only an hour and 22 minutes. But her singles match took more than two and a half hours.
