Former British player Tim Henman counts himself as a firm believer in his tennis heir Andy Murray, with the four-time Wimbledon semi-finalist who retired five years ago saying the Scot has improving chances to follow in the footsteps of rival Novak Djokovic.

Henman, 37, is keeping the faith as Murray sits out this weekend’s Davis Cup in Scotland to rest injuries after losing an Australian Open semi-final to Djokovic, who went onto win the title in nearly six hours over Rafael Nadal.

A year ago before an explosive 2011 which yielded three of the four major trophies, Djokovic found himself in almost the same position as Murray currently stands. “He’d won a single Australian Open (2008),” Henman told London media. “That is mainly.”
