Practice with Travis Rettenmaier at Honolulu Challenger – Shubert Blog
It was nice to have a hit with Travis today in preparation for his doubles match tomorrow. He won last year’s event so I was stoked to get out onto the courts again here at the Kailua Racquet Club. There is no screwing around, everyone here is a professional. Their rookie days are over, they don’t make amateur mistakes. Warm ups and taking care of the body physically and mentally take precedent over everything. If I want to find sponsors and people who will support me in my dream to play at this level and higher, I need to prove I can take care of my body, stay injury free, and show improvements in both areas. Travis is nice enough to fill me in on details about the tour and situational information. [READ MORE].

Tennis’ Bryan Brothers ‘Unleash the Beast’ at Australian Open
After years of testing and denying dozens of other polyester strings, current No. 1 ranked doubles champions, Mike and Bob Bryan, cite “more pop, ultimate feel and hands-down a better string,” as the reasons they have converted to the new Prince Beast XP thermo-polyester string starting at this year’s Australian Open.

Fans watching the first Grand Slam tennis event of 2012 will see the twins not only with a new, bright yellow Prince EXO3 Rebel racquet, but also with the identifiable Prince green Beast string to maximize performance. [READ MORE].

TennisChiro picks the Men’s Quarterfinals: Djokovic, Murray, Federer and Nadal
“TennisChiro was wrong on both women’s matches today, Here are his picks for the men!

By the way, so nice to listen to the crisp strike on the ball without any grunting and shreiking as in Vika’s match. Great victory for Clijsters and for her physio! Played the TB beautifully. Didn’t drop a single point on serve!

TennisChiro picks the Men’s Quarterfinals: Djokovic, Murray, Federer and Nadal

We are down to the quarters. Everyone in the last 8 has earned their spot by going through 4 matches in the main draw. However, some have arrived with more convincing victories than others.

So my thoughts on the men’s quarters: … [READ MORE].

10sChiro is still taking Federer to reach the Finals
Fitness:
Roger seems to be 100% although he is not serving quite as fast as usual. He’ll need to serve well tonight.
Rafa appears to be struggling just a bit on that knee. But he does seem to be hitting a little deeper with his forehand as the tournament goes on and the occasion calls for it. He’s also cultivating his forehand down the line. That could be what makes the difference.

But on balance, especially in light of the way Nadal appears to be struggling physically, I have to stay with Federer.

Gotta take a nap this evening so I can make it through what promises to be an epic. I’m exhausted from staying up past 3 the last couple of nights. Gave up after the first two sets of Nadal/Berdych, but made it all the way through Djokovic/Ferrer. Awesome hitting and running! I’m still picking Murray, but the show Nole put on last night made me think twice. I just hope his hamstring holds up. And that goes for all of them. You can’t maintain this level with injuries.
