The explosive growth of beach tennis following the launch of the ITF Beach Tennis Tour just four years ago has not gone unnoticed in South America.
With a coast line and climate seemingly designed for the sport it is no surprise that Chile has announced their first international beach tennis event.
Coquimbo, located 460 Km (286 miles) north of Santiago, will witness the nation’s first ITF Beach Tennis Tour tournament. From January 26th – 29th the sands of the Peñuelas beach will be buzzing with activity as the beach tennis spirit moves in.
Sanctioned by the ITF and hosted by the Chilean Tennis Federation, Chile’s inaugural international beach tennis tournament will be an ITF Grade 4 event. Men’s and women’s doubles teams will battle it out for ITF Beach Tennis World Ranking points and a share of the $1,500 prize money.
