No Change in Plans for Djokovic, Including Results
© “DAILY TENNIS NEWS WIRE”
Nothing in his game needs fixing, so Novak Djokovic will stick with the program which took him to the top of the sport in 2011 as the holder defends his Australian Open title.
“I don’t think that in general my game should be changed or that I should take any major changes in it,” said the winner of ten titles and 70 matches in 2011.
“I have to keep that consistency of performing well, work on some things, maybe to get more often to the net, work on my serve a little bit more, that variety of the serve. [READ MORE].

New Looks on the Men’s Side (Clothing and Rackets)
With the Aussie Open going on and it being so early in the new year, we get a chance to see another exciting side of tennis besides the quality of play – The new clothes, rackets, shoes, and sponsors on the players! Federer looks imposing and graceful in his red and white RF line, which match his new red and white Wilson racket (paint job). His new shoes are interesting, featuring the two-tone color to match more outfits. So far, the Vapor 6 is still my favorite of the Nike Vapor line… Alas technology made it obsolete and they don’t make them anymore! [READ MORE].

TennisChiro Breaks down the Men’s Round of 16 – Australian Open 2012
It’s not as clear as at Wimbledon or the US Open, but the second week really starts with the round of 16 and at this point you can really see how the tournament is shaping up. Wimbledon doesn’t play on the middle Sunday and makes up for it with the massive middle Monday when they play all the round of 16 matches. The US Open doesn’t afford the players a day off between semis and finals and pushes everything back a little wrapping up women’s and men’s quarters on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. But the Australian Open, especially with the two primary courts having sliding roofs, offers the players a full day of rest between rounds. [READ MORE].

A shortage of turn-ups down under so far…
There where not many surprises in the first week of the Australian Open. The top four are through, without any real drama. Murray (4) dropped a set against US prospect Ryan Harrison but rallied to win convincingly; then stylishly crushed his third round opponent in straight sets; Federer (3) hasn’t dropped a set in three matches; Nadal (2) has similarly eased his way through 3-0, 3-0, 3-0; and Djokovic (1) continues his quest for perfection – only dropping ten games over three straight sets victories. Ok, so the ever popular Fish fell, and Tipsarevic went out to a lower seed, but in general there have been very few surprises.
It seems only the searing heat is making the golden quartet sweat. Statistically, they’re cruising. Whilst the tournament’s organisers will be rubbing their hands with glee (Big names means big crowds, big interest, big deal) it’s not necessarily interesting. Sure, at least three of the current top four are bona-fide legends in their own lunchtime, and Murray can join them once he breaks his Slam duck, but nobody wants to see tennis becoming processional.
