It’s hot in Melbourne and guess who’s wearing a sweater. Dusan Vemic of Serbia, and guess what’s on his sweater. Two 10sballs.com patches! Wow, thanks Dusan for being such a nice guy. Now, how about a little biography on Dusan Vemic? Vemic began playing tennis professionally in 1995. He reached his singles career high at No. 146 in 2008 and his doubles career high as No. 31 on January 12, 2009. Vemic made it to the Roland Garros semifinals and the US Open quarterfinals in 2008 with teammate Bruno Soares. He also made the Australian Open semifinals in 2010 with Ivo Karlovic. So far this year Dusan Vemic has played no tournaments but remains in the game performing as Novak Djokovic’s practice partner. Here’s a video of the two practicing together a few months ago.

Dusan Vemic was spotted watching Djokovic during his second round match against Santiago Giraldo of Columbia at the Rod Laver arena on the Thursday the 19th. Djokovic defeated Giraldo 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 in one hour and 42 minutes. Following the match Djokovic stated, “I maybe started a little too defensive because he was hitting the ball very strong. But then after, it was the other way around.” Djokovic added, “Santiago came out early hitting the ball quite flat. But I knew that, you know, sooner or later he’s going to drop the rhythm and I just have to hang in there. I’ve done a good job.”
Dusan Vemic surely supports not only Djokovic but the entire team of Super Serbs. The former world No.1 Ana Ivanovic, currently No. 22, battles out her third round match against German No.23 Julia Goerges on Friday January 20th. Ivanovic toasted Michaella Krajicek 6-2, 6-3 during Wednesdays second round and spared the Spaniard Lourdes Dominguez Lino no mercy when she defeated her 6-0, 6-3 in the first round. Fellow Serb Jelena Jankovic, ranked No. 13 is crushing the competetition. She plays her third round match against Christina McHale on Friday. Jankovic defeated Kai-Chen Chang 6-4, 6-2 in her most recent victory.
On Thursday January 19th No.9 ranked Janko Tipsarevic defeated Australian up-n-comer James Duckworth 3-6, 6-2, 7-6, 6-4. Tipsarevic’s consistent skill in key moments helped him gain the serve in the final tiebreak after Duckworth committed a double fault. The No.6 Serb in men’s doubles Nenad Zimonjic along with teammate Michael Llodra defeated Jordan Kerr and Donald Young 7-6, 6-3 during their doubles first round. They face Spaniards Marc Lopez and David Marrero in round 2 on Friday January 20th after 2:30 PM. With so many great Serb players lined up, several at the cusp of the top 20 and many within it, it’s no wonder the current world No.1 is Novak Djokovic. Once again we would like to thank Dusan Vemic for wearing our logo!
