After spells adorned in the tennis clothing of adidas, Under Armor and most recently KSwiss, world no.7 Vera Zvonareva has signed a new endorsement deal with Italian firm Fila.
The 27 year-old Russian, twice a major finalist at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2010, joins the likes of Kim Clijsters, Svetlana Kuznetsova and newly signed Jelena Jankovic to give Fila a strong presence in the world’s top 20 on the WTA circuit.
Gene Yoon, Chairman of Fila, was clearly delighted his company had struck the deal with IMG, working on behalf of their client Zvonareva.
“Vera is a proven champion and we are elated that she has become an ambassador for the Fila brand,” said Yoon. “The Fila brand has been worn by champions in tennis for almost 40 years, and Vera’s style and grace are synonymous with Fila’s core design philosophy of visualizing the beauty in sport.”
Zvonareva was equally complimentary about the makers of her new apparel. “I have admired the Fila brand since I was a young girl and I am thrilled to join the elite group of athletes that have worn Fila throughout the years,” she said. “The Fila brand aligns so well with my personal style, and I look forward to wearing Fila’s tennis line in Australia.”
