The HEAD Prestige – Absolute Precision since 1987

Melbourne, Australia – January 12th, 2012

The HEAD Prestige racquet represents a true legend for Tennis players around the globe. In 1987, the legendary first Prestige Pro racquet marked HEAD’s entry into a new generation of tennis racquets, based on a carbon fibre construction. This enabled players like Henri Leconte, Emilio Sanchez and Thomas Muster to play with an unprecedented level of power, control, and precision – but most of all that unique feel and sound which only tennis players, who have ever picked up a Prestige, can share.

“Not one racquet has the sound of Prestige”, confirms Croatian tennis hero and 2001 Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanišević. “Once you are hooked to the Prestige, you can never get away from it.” “It is a feeling very tough to describe, but the one who have ever played a Prestige will understand”, confirms Swedish two-time French Open finalist Robin Soderling, “and the ones who have not, will understand as soon as they pick-up and play with a Prestige racquet.

Now, the legend continues as HEAD launches the 2012 HEAD YouTek™ IG Prestige, which is coming to stores worldwide right in time for the Australian Open. The newest addition to the Prestige line represents the pinnacle of 25 years of HEAD innovation, but still continues to include that unique Prestige touch – providing tennis players with Absolute Precision since 1987.

To honour the anniversary of this legendary racquet series, HEAD kicks off the year 2012 with a special celebration. Looking back at 25 years of history, outstanding players, epic tennis matches and trophies, and very special and personal Prestige moments, HEAD has launched a bespoke Facebook application and a series of YouTube videos, which allow tennis fans to dive into the Prestige history.

Each month, one of the past and current HEAD Prestige players reflects on a special ‘Prestige’ moment in his career. Among the many great former athletes on the ATP Tour, who have been playing with the Prestige, are French Davis Cup hero Henri Leconte, former World No.1 players Thomas Muster and Marat Safin, Spanish double-legends Emilio Sanchez and Sergio Casal, 3-time French Open winner Gustavo Kuerten, Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanišević and Davis Cup trophy holder Marc Philippoussis. But also current ATP Top 15 players such as Gilles Simon or Robin Söderling are taking part in the celebration. On the 25th of each month, friends of HEAD Tennis on Facebook have the chance win a signed HEAD YouTek™ IG Prestige S-Line racquet signed by a Prestige Legend.

To kick-off this celebration and year-long digital activation, HEAD has launched an epic product video showing the history of the racquet and its heroes on www.youtube.com/headtennis and www.facebook.com/headtennis .
