Bethanie Mattek- Sands … A radical look ? That’s what the Aussies are calling her … Well the Aussie broadcasters anyway. Liz somebody who was too talkative with her mate during the mixed doubles broadcast between USA and Denmark. From the Hopman cup.

Kudos for Fred Stolle and the best broadcasting we’ve heard in a long time … He gets four stars out of four stars !!! Why ? Because he doesn’t talk much and when he does it’s to make a keen observation. Yes I’m stuck in work and writing from my desk and the tv. Back to Bethanie Mattek – Sands. Knowing what a fierce competitor Bethanie is she had to take her loss to Caroline Wozniaki hard. It doesn’t matter that Wozzy is number one in the world. It doesn’t matter that Bethanies barely played since hurting her shoulder months ago. BMS wants to win every match. Every time. All true champions do.

First I saw some of the singles between Bethanie and Caroline. I guess BMS was up 5-1 in the first set and lost it in a tiebreaker. I tuned in mid second set. Bethanie was down 0-5. And fought off three match points. She lost 7-6,6-2. Great efforts for Bethanie Mattek -Sands for real.she has Bedn working to fix her shoulder since The U. S . Summer hardcourts .. Shoulders and knees really take time to rehab.

Back to Perth. Bethanies look is knee socks . Maybe compression. In singles she wore black. Back on court with Mardy fish for the doubles against the Danes Bethanie wore white. We were thrilled to see her walk on court carrying her Donnay racket bag with a big 10sballs.com patches on both sides. Thanks Bethanie. And Xavier. And Dusan Vemic. We are spreading the word….

The mixed was good. The Danes won. Both Geezer and Big Boss watched the match. Disco Dottie always watches Bethanie. We love Wozzy but Bethanie dominated her with lob after lob. It’s was unreal. I counted like seven times in the mixed that Bethanie had her scrambling.

Good luck Bethanie. Go gal in the knee socks ! Tennis would be boring without colorful Free spirits like her!
