6th January 2012
Congratulations.
Thanks a lot. It was a good match, the crowd was awesome, I had a lot of fun.
It looked like you got into a bit of rhythm, especially late in that second set when you were just making serve after serve.
Yeah definitely. I had hurt my shoulder last year so I actually kind of changed my serve a little bit, so my percentages haven’t been very high. I’m starting to feel the rhythm again.
It’s been a wonderful lead up for you to the Australian summer because you’ve rolled in here, the starts of January, you’ve played the world number one and the world number two. You couldn’t get a better preparation.
Definitely not. I mean they played great those first two matches. It’s good for me to play against them to see where my game is. Obviously I went down those two matches and I won today and my confidence is just building. I think it’s a great build up for the Australian Open.
And where do you think your game is at the moment?
I’m feeling really good. It’s funny because I’ve been working a lot on my slice returns, I don’t think I’ve ever don’t that in a match so I’m starting to use my whole game – my drop shots, my serving volleys, even my high balls come in take on the ride. So I’m really just trying to put everything together and pick the right shots at the right time.
Any truth to the rumour you’re off to the races tomorrow?
Yeah actually I might be. I missed them last week obviously, so I think I might catch them tomorrow.
Thanks for joining us.
