It’s great to have the Wimbledon champion up here us. Petra thank you very much for your time. Things are going beautifully – two single matches and two very good wins. You must be happy with your game?
Well yeah I am happy that I won, but still I have a lot of space for improving because I didn’t feel very comfortable on the court. I mean it’s very good that I won, but still. Next match is playing with Tomas in the mixed and every match is really important.
Do you enjoy playing the mixed doubles? It’s not something you would get to do that regularly? It looked like the other day on the court that you were having a good time.
Well I played my first mixed in the French Open, it was really fun, and with Tomas it was also really good but unfortunately we lost. We won as a total and this is important.
This is a great lead-in tournament for you next up here on Friday on one you get to play the world number one Caroline Wozniacki. One versus two, it’s a good test at the start of the year I would have thought?
Yeah it’s a good test, but still you know it’s preparation at the beginning of the season and you never know what she can play or what she improved in the off-season. So we will see. It will be a nice match for people.
People will be tuning in for that one later in the week on Friday.
Just another question quickly. Pat Cash sits in this chair and he says that when he won his Wimbledon title it absolutely changed his life. When I bring it up your smiling already. Has it changed your life very much Petra?
Yeah of course. When I won the Wimbledon and I was still in London, everybody told me this will change my life and I didn’t believe. I mean it was true, when I came to home and everybody knows me, it was very strange. After Wimbledon it was everything very new and I mean still, now it’s ok, but before I was a little bit confused.
Well you’ll always be known as the Wimbledon champion and also hopefully the Hopman Cup champion.
