The business empire of Novak Djokovic’s family has expanded in the off season with the opening of another restaurant, this one in Novi Sad, Serbia.
The tennis entrepreneur who also happens to hold the No. 1 ranking after a soar-away 2011 season, is balancing his competitive needs with business ones, with the financial side of life mainly overseen by his the parents and uncle of the 24-year-old national sporting hero.
Father Srjdan takes a guiding hand on the food side, having run a family pizza restaurant at a ski resort near Belgrade for years before his son made it big in tennis.
The Djokovic family business also owns the Belgrade ATP 250 event as well as distributing the player’s Italian clothing line (Sergio Tacchini) throughout their region through the Family Sports organization.
The new Novak restaurant in Novi Sad complements one opened several years ago in Belgrade. The new operation features a bar as well as dining.
The Belgrade Novak Café & Restaurant, begun in 2008, also serves some of the gluten-free foods which Djokovic swears helped his tennis during 2011. The family now operates a total of four eating establishments throughout Serbia.
