Former No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt has once again signed on to be a commentator on Australia’s Channel 7 for the 2012 Australian Open.

Hewitt, who will receive a wild card into the main draw of the tournament, will join American and French commentators Jim Courier and Henri Leconte, as well as Australians Todd Woodbridge, Rennae Stubbs and Nicole Bradtke.

Interestingly, Britain’s Samantha Smith, who was said to do a very good job last year was not renewed. Smith had replaced American commentator Tracy Austin, who was 7’s main women’s analyst for many years, but was not renewed for financial reasons. Aussies Bruce McAvaney, Johanna Griggs, Matt White and Hamish McLachlan will anchor Seven’s tennis coverage.
