Andy Roddick has been providing value for money for clothing sponsor Lacoste, making an in-store appearance at Bloomingdales in New York City during his off season pause.
The American who also fills the sparse few weeks away from the ATP by running a Florida charity event in aid of his foundation did his meet-and-greet in the post-Thanksgiving period as the Christmas shopping run-up heats up.
Fans and shoppers alike swarmed the former No. 1 as he autographed flogged Lacoste clothing and autographed tennis balls.
In a clever merchandising manoeuvre, those who purchased more than $150 of the Lacoste gear were given a “Crocodile” iPod Shuffle signed and pre-loaded with some of Andy’s favourite tunes.
There was a sweet surprise for Roddick and the public – his swimsuit model/actress wife Brooklyn Decker discreetly queued with the fans and presented herself in front of her husband, who kindly signed a photo for her.
Roddick, ranked 14th, remains one of the French clothing firm’s main endorsement contractees as he begins his 13th season on the ATP tour.
