Rafael Nadal wins the Davis Cup 2011 for Spain. The energy in the stadium was great – people crying, screaming, and jumping everyone enjoying the great tennis.
Rafael Nadal said in his interview, “The crowd supported us… it was the most amazing atmosphere I’ve ever played in.” For every point won the crowd would cheer! It almost seemed like two gladiators fighting each other, playing the game to their fullest, leaving on the court their sweat and blood.
Nadal is so gracious, he first shook the hand of his teammates, then went to the Argentinean bench to hug and kissed the entire team. That’s what we call a good sport.
After 4 hours of play Rafa wins Juan Martin Del Potro in four sets. 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, 7-6(0). Overall Spain wins 3: 1 against Argentina. The Spainish team was composed of Nadal, Ferrer, Lopez, Verdasco. While the Argentina team had Monaco, Del Potro, Nalbandian, Schwank.
What a great way to end the 2011 tennis events. The king of clay reins supreme once again. Great job Rafael Nadal.
