Goran Ivanisevic is the living proof that good things will come to those with talent who persevere and the 2001 Wimbledon champion is insistent Andy Murray will eventually win the major title that has hitherto been so elusive.

Ivanisevic is in London to defend the AEGON Masters title at the historic Royal Albert Hall against an entry that also includes Tim Henman, Mark Philippoussis and Thomas Enqvist who he meets in his opening match later today.

Ivanisevic, the last man to win a major title having lost his first three finals, has a message for Andy Murray: “Don’t give up, man, you still have time.”

The Croatian said yesterday: “He’s definitely going to win a Grand Slam. I don’t know when – I don’t have a magic ball to see that – but next year it can happen. I said that to myself and I won.”
