Yes, I love Rafael Nadal. I love his muscles. His shot-making. His spins. His guts. His everything….well almost….I wish for 2012 he finally loses his OCD for pulling at his wedgie in his rear end….What’s OCD you say? Obsessive-compulsive disorder…..yup. It’s something you see at the top level (maybe club levels, maybe junior tourneys) a lot. What does an old hack like me know about it? A lot, I have it too! BUT I don’t keep tugging at my BUTT! Benito you tried to get him to stop?
O.K. back to Rafa. We hope he makes a strong comeback next week…not too strong. But who wouldn’t want a Rafa/Roger final in London? Besides all the people from Great Britain who would surely pick Andy Murray. The yearend finals in London are going to be great. You can feel the buzz. Eight great men’s singles players. And eight great doubles teams.
“D” from California is such a Rafa fan that I think she is on her way to London. What a Rafa Head. Ok. Let’s get back to OCD, watch Rafa and his water bottles. Watch Roger and his rituals. Watch Novak and his bouncing…no, I don’t like his bouncing. Think about Andy Roddick, he is always tugging his shorts. Andy Murray, “Dear Braveheart.” Not sure I’ve picked up any repetitive habits of his. Think about Agassi. He always wanted all Ball-kids in their exact positions.
The most obsessive tennis player in history has to be Art Larson, also known as “Tappy.” He had to tap the court a lot. It varied. But it was more than the great player from Serbia who bounces a bit…tennis players are also seriously superstitious but I’ll save that for another day….Vitas didn’t walk on the lines….Any opinions out there? Sound off below.
