The December 8 exhibition between Rafael Nadal and Spaniard David Ferrer has been cancelled due to lack of sponsorship. Nadal and Ferrer likely combined for at least $1 million in appearance fees.

“Unfortunately, some resources have been lacking so that the event could not take place with all the minimum guarantees necessary,” Manuel Mate, President of International Marketing Latin America, told Mexico’s The Economist. Organizers are hoping to hold the event sometime next year.
