Venus Williams has vowed to play a full season next year, despite suffering from Sjogren’s Syndrome which has kept her off the courts since she withdrew from her second round match at the US Open.
“My goal next year is to play a full schedule,” said Venus, who has slipped to 103 in the rankings after contesting just four tournaments and 11 matches in 2011. “It will take some work to get there, but I’m no stranger to hard work.
“I love the game. The racquet feels right in my hand and I’m planning on going right back to where I was at the top of the rankings in the singles and doubles sometime within the next 12 months.”
Part of her cure has been to add more vegetables and salad to her diet.
“I changed my diet completely, so lots of vegetables,” she revealed. “I altered my mind frame completely because I was the person who always ate their steak first and their salad second.”
