The Finals of the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris. Bercy or maybe it’s Merci? Finally Roger Federer wins the French indoors. It’s the only “1000” event he hadn’t won. The old “super nines” are now 1000. Level tour events. It basically means that your four biggies are the grand slams. In the calendar year it’s starts with the Australian open, followed by the French open. Followed by WIMBLEDON followed by the U.S. Open. Then you have these 1000, 500 and 250.
Roger Federer won the first set from Jo Tsonga in thirty minutes. We are now in the second set and it’s three games all. The “Mighty Fed” looks just that. Really focused.. really alert.. really on his “A” game…
We watched Jo- Willie’s great semi against BIG John Isner. It was a real battle. We are not surprised that he has sort of an empty tank today. In their semi match Jo saved three match points. Yikes that’s unreal energy and efforts. Prior to the third set Jo Willie changed socks. Tso Tsongas tsock change Tseemed to help him. The funny part. He had the new Adidas socks. The ones that are compression and have an L or an R on them for the player to figure out. Funny. I’ve worn tennis tsocks my whole life and never saw that before. Leave it to Adidas and team three stripes to come up with that technology….
Oops Rogi is looking like he could lose this second set. More nonsense later. It’s four to four. Back to the socks: it says on the package that Sven sent : climate control ,microfiber for moisture wicking effect. Compression arch support. Left and right ergonomic fit and maximum comfort. Ok. I’m wearing mine today to test out as soon as the sun comes up.
Roger Federer. Super man. He is so focused. He has all his Buddies around. He has “coach” Gavin Rossdale sitting with his lovely Mirka.
Yikes. It’s tiebreaker. Feds up four zip. It’s pressure tennis. How awesome for the French to have a guy in the singles final playing Roger. And two Frenchmen in the dubs final playing the awesome team of the an Indian and a Pakistani.
Feds up 5-1 in the second set breaker. 6-1. How many championship points. Come on Robbie tell us. Robbie called them a handful. Check Rob Koenigs twitter. @ rob Koenig tennis. Tsonga saves two. Federer serves and wins. Final score. Roger Federer beats Jo -Willi Tsonga. 6-1,7-6. A dream come true for Roger Federer. He waited a long time to win this event.
