Kveta Peschke isn’t quite ready to retire just yet, but she has announced that she will no longer play Fed Cup. Her decision came after she played a vital role against Russia in the 2011 final, during which she teamed up with Lucie Hradecka to win the vital fifth rubber and give the Czech Republic a 3-2 victory.
“To call it a day (in the Fed Cup) at the moment when we have reached the summit, is beautiful. It is like the cherry on the cake,” the doubles world number two behind Liezel Huber said.
The 36-year-old, who has 22 doubles titles including Wimbledon which she won earlier this year with Katarina Srebotnik, intends to play out the 2012 season before retiring completely.
