The world number one doubles team Bob and Mike Bryan exited the BNP Parisbas Masters draw in the second round after being defeated by French wildcards Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut 7-6 (3) 3-6 10-8. The French duo will now play against Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski in the quarterfinals.
Fyrstenberg and Matkowski have secured the last spot for the doubles event at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London. The Poles won in straight sets over French wildcards Arnaud Clement and Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-3 6-3.
Santiago Gonzalez and Christopher Kas played for the first time together and pulled off a great win over Brazilians Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares 7-6 (6) 6-3. Melo and Soares were hoping to qualify for London but their chances are no longer there. Kas and Gonzales are the only team through to the semi-finals so far.
The No. 2 seeds Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic battled past Eric Butorac and Jean-Julien Rojer to reach the quarterfinals. The number two seeds prevailed 6-3 4-6 14-12. Butorac and Rojer saved six match points along the way.
The Indo/Pak Express cruised into the quarters dismissing British duo Jamie Murray and Colin Flemming 6-4 6-3. Bopanna and Qureshi have already earned themselves a spot at the London Showdown.
Eight teams have now qualified for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London – Bryan/Bryan, Llodra/Zimonjic, Nestor/Mirnyi, Bhupathi/Paes, LIndstedt/Tecau, Melzer/Petzschner, Bopanna/Qureshi anf Fyrstenberg/Matkowski.
