With their money and jet-setting lifestyle, you might think that tennis players are always partying and burning the midnight oil. Some might, but not Ana Ivanovic, defending champion at the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions.

“I’m mostly asleep at nine,” she revealed. “I do wake up early though. Last night I tried to stay up and managed 10.30. At home, sometimes it’s 10.30, 11. (But) it’s hot (here), exhausting. I usually sleep for between eight and 10 hours.

“My brother is quite opposite so when I’m back home I hardly see him, because I go to bed when he sort of goes out and by the time he’s back I’m up working. So we miss each other.

“After this I’m going to have a couple of weeks off, so maybe on my holidays I stay up a little longer.”
