The wildcards for Stockholm Open has been announced. Three lucky players have been given entry to the main draw of the event starting on 17 October.

Germany’s Tommy Haas is currently ranked No. 292 on the singles ranking. Back in 2002 Haas reached the number two spot. The German has been battling with several injuries and is now on the comeback trail. He started out at the French Open this year but hasn’t managed to get back to his old form. Haas is a dangerous opponent and can beat or cause trouble for any player in the main draw.

Former world number three David Nalbandian is also a wildcard entry. The Argentinian has got 11 career singles titles to his name. Currently ranked at No. 57 Nalbandian is a tricky player who possesses one of the best baseline games in the world. The 29-year-old is coming back from multiple leg injuries that required surgery.

Hometown boy Michael Ryderstedt loves playing in front of his home crowd in Stockholm. He was awarded a wildcard to the Stockholm Open back in 2004 and on his first try he advanced to the semi-finals. He mainly plays on the Futures and Challenger Tours. He reached the quarterfinals of the SkiStar Swedish Open this summer. The Swede was defeated by Spain’s Nicolas Almagro.

Tomorrow at Kungliga Tennishallen in Stockholm there will be a match between tennis legends Stefan Edberg and Goran Ivanisevic. Profits from the ticket sales will go to a chosen charity.
