Montreal, October 12, 2011 – Milos Raonic (Thornhill, ON) fell in second round action on Wednesday at the
Shanghai Rolex Masters, an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event currently underway in Shanghai, China.
The 20-year-old Canadian was defeated 7-5,7-6(7) by World No. 5 David Ferrer of Spain. The match, which
lasted one hour, 43 minutes, was the third meeting between the two players in 2011 and resulted in a third victory
for Ferrer. Raonic was up a break in both sets and held a set point in the second set tiebreak, but was unable to
convert his chances. Raonic acquitted himself well against the feisty Spaniard in just his second tournament back
on Tour following hip surgery, hitting 11 aces, 0 double faults and winning 78 percent of his first serve points.
Ferrer posted previous wins over Raonic this year at the Australian Open in January and on clay in Monte-Carlo
this spring.
Raonic’s next tournament will be the If Stockholm Open in Sweden, an ATP 250 event beginning next week.

Le match, qui a duré une heure et 43 minutes, était le troisième affrontement de 2011 entre les deux joueurs et
Ferrer a conservé sa fiche parfaite. Bien que Raonic ait brisé l’Espagnol au début de chaque manche et qu’il ait
détenu une balle de manche au jeu décisif de la deuxième manche, il a été incapable de profiter de ses chances.
Néanmoins, il s’est très bien débrouillé à son deuxième tournoi seulement après son opération à la hanche,
produisant 11 aces, aucune double faute et remportant 78 pour cent de ses premières balles de service. Ferrer
avait battu Raonic aux Internationaux d’Australie, en janvier, ainsi qu’à Monte-Carlo, au printemps.
Raonic se dirige maintenant vers la Suède pour participer à l’Omnium de Stockholm, un tournoi du Circuit 250 de
l’ATP disputé à compter de la semaine prochaine.
