After a Strong Win, Wozniacki Moves to 3rd Round

Fresh off the court, Caroline Wozniacki participated in a press conference Tuesday night to talk to media about her second round triumph.

Wozniacki threw No. 34 Jarmita Gajdosova out of the competition Tuesday in the 2011 China Open in a straight sets win 6-2/6-3. She expressed she was happy with the way she performed on the court.

“I think I started off pretty well. You know, the most important thing is that you win,” Wozniacki said. “I played her last week (in Tokyo), so I knew how she was going to play.  It wasn’t an easy match, I’m just happy to be through to the next round and be into the third one.”

Gajdosova practically handed points over to the No. 1 player in the match with eight double-faults and 19 unforced errors, but Wozniacki said she was more focused on her own game than her opponent’s.

Wozniacki will get a chance at revenge against No. 46 Kaia Kanepi from Estonia in her third round match, after losing to her in Tokyo last week.

“I played her last week and I lost to her in three sets,” Wozniacki said. “But, you know, next match is a new match.  We start from 0‑0, and I’ll go out there and fight what I have and hopefully it will be enough.”
