John Hobart, of Atlanta, Ga., has been named USTA 10 and Under Tennis Coordinator, USTA Southern Executive Director and COO John Callen announced today.
Hobart has worked at USTA Southern since January 2011, first as a marketing intern and then as Partner Services Coordinator for the Atlanta Tennis Championships. He recently earned a Masters in Sports Administration degree from Georgia State University. He graduated from Hampden-SydneyCollege in Virginia with a bachelor’s degree.
Hobart with be tasked with increasing participation in 10 and Under Tennis by promoting, developing, and servicing tennis programs throughout the nine states through establishment of strong relationships with the local delivery system including tennis and non-tennis facilities and organizations.
10 and Under Tennis has become one of the most active USTA programs, designed to provide kids with age-appropriate tennis court sizes, balls, racquets, nets and rules. The program is generally played on 36’ courts for eight-and-under players and blended 60’ courts for nine- and 10-and-under players, both using tennis balls that don’t bounce as high as standard balls.
Hobart, a live-long Atlanta resident, will be working with six target markets – Cary, N.C.; Greenville/Spartanburg, S.C.; Lexington, Ky.; Louisville; New Orleans, La. and Shreveport, La. – along with youth programs throughout the nine-state section.
