Obituary: Cliff Robertson  |

Friend of Tennis and this  site Cliff Robertson passed away this week end. He saw his last U.S. Open from his favorite place. His tv. He liked to be able to see the players faces. He looked in their eyes …he loved Roger the best. He loved Rafa. He loved both Andys. And other than the bouncing he loved Novak. The tennis chicks he liked watching…. Way too long to list here… Endless .. top of the list: Gussy. Followed by two Ana’s – Ana Kournikova and Ana Ivanonic….

He loved the old Westside Tennis Club and was a regular in the annual Robert  Kennedy Charity event held @ Forest Hills the day before the open started.  The” Big Kahuna “, Charly, and Uncle Ben were some of Cliffs favorite films.(Roles)  In the Gidget film Cliff (We called him Cliffy Baby) but that was because he called Los Angeles ” La La Land” Cliff rode a wave in a scene smoking a cigar the whole time …”Uncle Ben” in Spiderman was fun for Cliff. Because it came so late in his fifty year career.

We will sorely miss a truly handsome man inside and out. He was a Southern California boy who wanted to be a Long Islander …

Cliff Loved hitting the ball. He possessed beautiful strokes and was wonderful to play with….
