Swede Robin Soderling never turned up for his match on the Grandstand Court today against Irland’s Louk Sorensen. According to Soderling’s agent Nina Wennerstrom the Swede suffers from a virus.

The official statement read: He is felling really bad. His stomach was hurting. He experienced head pain and the doctor recommended to him not to play. They don’t know what kind of virus it is, but the doctor think it can be something related to the throat problems he had a couple of weeks ago, which made him withdraw from the Masters tournament in Cincinnati.

Soderling has not played since he won the title in Bastad, Sweden in July. The world number six has been recovering from a wrist injury.

On his official Facebook page Soderling posted the following message: Hi my friends, I am sorry but I couldn’t play today. I had no energy, I had stomach ache, headache, and talking to the doctor we decided that I just couldn’t play. I really hope to recover quickly.

Robin Soderling was replaced in the draw by lucky loser Rogerio Dutra Da Silva of Brazil. Dutra Da Silva won the first round match after his opponent Irish player Louk Sorensen had to pull out in the fourth set.
