Hi everybody. Welcome to the surreal U.S. Open. Also known as the ” U.S. Corporate closed.” Ok. Sorry I’m not a big fan or Corporate America…
Irene why now? It’s funny the New York post reports the open will start Monday at 11 a.m. Ok. U.S. Open. We sure hope so …
Mirka and Roger we hope you made a big trip to FAO Swartz for toys for the twins. Roger we hope this is a good little pocket of quiet before the storm of tennis players out there ….
Andy Roddick whose hunkering down with you ? any room for more if we bring our own sleeping bags?
Serena it gives you more time to shop at your favorite Bergdorfs Goodmans … (she used to say it that way)… (She may still)…. It’s either Bergdorfs… Or Bergdorf Goodman…
Our Dear Sven sent a photo this morning of Bloomingdales. – “Bloomies” getting boarded up …
Svens update is the Adidas team is working hard as usual. They are all pitching in at the player clothes distribution …they call it the players “kits”. He said” everbody doing their thing… ” The BJK National Tennis Center is open till 5 tonite. Mass transit shuts down in a few hours. Indoor courts in NY city are being used for practise. But the price is 150 to 200 dollars an hour …and the players have to reserve their own courts …no arrangements by USTA…..
The streets of Manhattan are quiet. It’s weird. Our room at the Waldorf suits us. Not too high. Not too low. Good view of all the goings on. Also nice to be up on the higher ground on Central Park South stomping
grounds.
We will keep you posted. The city is bracing for the storm …still eight hours or more away … The shops are closing early. Funny how so many players ended up at WHOLE FOODS for their supplies. The water was gone but they all found some things to munch on ….
