Victoria Azarenka Withdraws
MASON, OHIO (August 17, 2011) – Third seed Victoria Azarenka has withdrawn from the tournament with a right hand strain. She will be replaced in the draw by lucky loser Pauline Parmentier for tonight’s match against Shahar Peer.
About the Western & Southern Open The Western & Southern Open will be held August 13-21, 2011 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, 20 miles north of Cincinnati in Mason, OH. The tournament is one of the prestigious ATP Masters 1000 events on the men’s tour and a Premier 5 event for the WTA – making it one of three events in the US and one of five in the world with events of that caliber occurring during the same week(s). The tournament is also one of the last stops on the Olympus US Open Series prior to the US Open in New York.
Cincinnati-based Western & Southern Financial Group is the tournament title sponsor. The Western & Southern Open is operated by Cincinnati Tennis LLC. The United States Tennis Association is a majority owner of Cincinnati Tennis LLC. Since 1974, the tournament has contributed more than $8.5 million to its beneficiaries: the Barrett Cancer Center, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Tennis for City Youth.
