Rogers Cup – Doubles Update – Bopanna pulls out Bryan Bros in Semis
Indian doubles player Rohan Bopanna rolled his ankle and had to pull out at 3-3 in the first set against Bob and Mike Bryan in the quarterfinals at the Rogers Cup in Montréal.
Top seeds and defending Champions Bob and Mike will play Tomas Berdych and Florian Mayer in the semi-finals after the Czech/German team defeated British brother combination of Andy and Jamie Murray in straight sets 6-4 6-4.
Mike and Bob Bryan have won the Australian Open and Wimbledon this year. They have also clinched the titles at the ATP World Tour masters 1000 in Madrid and Monte Carlo. The brothers are looking to win their fourth title in Canada. They won in 2002, 2006 and 2010.
In the bottom half of the draw, Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic took out Polish team Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski in a tough match that finished 3-6 6-3 11-9. The French/Serbian team won their first team title at the Legg Mason Classic in Washington last week defeating Lindstedt and Tecau in the final.
Llodra/Zimonjic’s opponents will be the winners of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Stanislas Wawrinka and the second seeds Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor.
