Busy Rafael Nadal Trains and Tweets

Rafael Nadal continues to prepare for a strong run during the summer hard-court season, in addition to keeping his fans up to date on Facebook—and now on Twitter as well.

Zvonareva, Petkovic, Radwanska, Ivanovic Win at Mercury Insurance Open

Friday was a triumphant day for the top seeds at the Mercury Insurance Open, as Vera Zvonareva, Andrea Petkovic, and Agnieszka Radwanska advanced to the semifinals.

Meanwhile, No. 5 seed Ana Ivanovic efficiently ousted No. 4 seed Shuai Peng to join the top three seeds in the next round.

No. 3 seed Radwanska took on No. 8 seed Hantuchova to begin the day, with the Polish star prevailing, 0-6, 6-4, 6-4. Radwanska, who was last year’s runner-up, told reporters that she had considered retiring from the match after a disastrous first set because her shoulder had been feeling sore.

Radwanska will next encounter No. 2 seed Petkovic, who defeated Sloane Stephens, 6-2, 6-1, in their quarterfinal match-up on Friday.
