Spaniard Albert Ramos took out local favourite Ivan Dodig. Ramos needed two hours and 37 minutes to overcome the Croat in three sets 6-4 3-6 6-2.

Ivan Dodig is ranked number 82 on the ATP Tour singles ranking and he was seeded number eight in the ATP Studena Croatia Open.

Albert Ramos 23, has won one title on the ATP Challenger Tour in Milan and he was the runner up in Turin. This was Ramos’ ninth career match win. Ramos will face the winner of Croatian wildcard Mate Delic and an undecided qualifier.

Diego Junqueira of Argentina beat Croatian wildcard Antonia Veic 6-4 7-5.

Two doubles matches were played in Umag yesterday. Blaz Kavcic and his partner Jaroslav Pospisil blasted past Croatian wildcards Marin Draganja and Dino Marcan winning 6-1 6-1.

The Italian team of Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini had a two set win over Olivier Rochus and Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-2 6-4.

Local favourites Marin Cilic and Ivan Ljubicic appeared on stage with other Croatian celebrities and sports stars yesterday. This event will take place daily between 16.00 and 17.00 when the fans can chat and get autographs from their heroes. This event is hosted in aid of “Umag Stars for Umag Children, a charity for children with special needs.
