ATLANTA, July 22, 2011 – Internationally acclaimed pianist, Phil Thompson, is headlining the numerous special events throughout the Atlanta Tennis Championships, including daily performances at the International Food Court. The ATP World Tour event that opens the Olympus US Open Series will be played at the Racquet Club of the South in Norcross, July 18-24, with qualifying starting on July 16.

When it’s time to eat, enjoy delicious food in the International Food Court where there is live entertainment by internationally renowned pop pianist Phil Thompson. He played at the US Open last year, with a return trip planned this year. In addition he has done gigs in Las Vegas and Vienna, Austria. Thompson has toured with the Canadian Tenors and has been featured on “Oprah” & “Dr. Phil.” He was most recently seen on “The Doctors” in early June. Thompson has released four full length albums. Two of his most popular singles include “The Magic of Christmas Eve” and a benefit song “Final Ride Home” in memory of the 35W Bridge collapse in Minnesota.

Thompson is not only recognized for his talents as a pianist, but his acting and producing as well. As a student at the University of Minnesota, Thompson had numerous roles acting in various productions. This led Thompson to later roles in national commercials and a nomination for “Best Actor” in the movie Topsoil, in a 48 Hour Film Festival. Thompson has also appeared on national television on many occasions including Shop NBC, PBS, and other Minnesota affiliate programming. Thompson has also recently launched his own production company. Phil Thompson Productions will utilize Thompson’s talent and connections throughout the industry to help create CDs, concerts, ad campaigns, soundtracks and music based marketing platforms.

Critics throughout the music and entertainment industry continue to praise Thompson as an artist, composer, producer, television host and actor.
