The draw for the 2012 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas was held at Hyogo in Japan today.
The top eight nations will compete in the World Group for a chance to lift the Fed Cup trophy, while the eight nations in World Group II will compete for promotion to the World Group in 2013. The remaining nations will compete in regional Zone Groups I, II and III.
The Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group and World Group II first round ties will be held on 4-5 February. The World Group semifinals and play-offs will be played either on the 14-15 April or 21-22 April and the final will be played on 3-4 November.
